Every experienced writer knows Heraclites’ dictum that ‘character is destiny’. These age-old words of advice will be the focus of our first Like Heaven writing workshop in Siena.

Most prose writing is focused on the question: what are people really like? People love to read about other people. But how do we as writers develop characters that our readers can relate to, who are human, honest, real?

This workshop has been designed for writers of fiction, memoir and creative non-fiction at early and intermediate stages of their writing careers who wish to expand their skills in this area. For beginners, the workshop will provide tools to guide them in their later work. For more advanced writers, the writing exercises will help them focus on particular issues.
